USF MBB: Relax!

We live in an era of college sports where players are transferring left and right. Players come and go after one season and rosters can be completely turned over in just on off-season, even if that team saw success that season.

USF men’s basketball is going through that right now with three key players from last year’s squad gone. It stinks, but it’s the way of life of college sports. However, it doesn’t mean we need to panic. As Coach AAR has stated, RELAX!

At this stage, Kasean Pryor, Selton Miguel, and Chris Youngblood are all gone. Pryor is aiming for the draft while Miguel is heading to Maryland and Youngblood is heading to Alabama. I wish them all well in their careers and thank them for everything they did for the Bulls. And while it stinks these guys are gone, the Bulls are already reloading the roster so let’s meet some of the new players that will be joining the team in 2024.

The first is forward Jamille Reynolds, the 6’11” forward from St. Petersburg, FL. Reynolds played for Cincinnati last year, averaging 5.5 PPG in 28 games (1 start) along with 4 RPG and 18 total blocks. Reynolds adds both depth, size, and experience to the USF front court, a position of need for the Bulls.

Next is 6’9″ forward De’Ante Green (Asheville, NC) who joins the Bulls from FSU. Last year, Green played in 31 games, making 20 starts and averaging 4.5 RPPG and 1.7 RPG. Green is known for his high motor and defensive ability, so he will be another solid addition to the USF front court and gives the Bulls two bigs with experience up front.

And the Bulls are adding one more player with JUCO All American guard Jimmie Williams. The 6’5″ guard made All American status last year while at Wallace State while averaging 22.5 PPG (37% from 3-point range) in 35 starts, adding 8.3 RPG and 5 APG as well. Wallace is a play-making guard with range, adding another key offensive piece to the USF roster.

So, relax USF fans, take a deep breath, the Bulls are going to be just fine. Coach Amir is reloading the roster, has everything in hand, and the team is going to be just fine next year when they look to defend their regular season title.
